Brussels: Telespazio at The 11th European Space Policy Conference

Brussels  24 January 2019

Luigi Pasquali, co-ordinator of the space activities of Leonardo and CEO of Telespazio, took part in the 11th European Space Policy Conference, which was held in Brussels on January 22nd and 23rd. The subject of the Conference was “Space for Europe, European Space in the World”.

On the sidelines of the works, Luigi Pasquali maintained: “This years’ Conference takes place in an important moment of passage, because the European Parliament is proceeding to approve the perimeter of the European space activities from 2021 to 2027. I believe the European Commission’s proposal to earmark 16 billion Euros for space activities represents a step in the right direction. With this budget, Europe will be able to manage the future of Copernicus and Galileo, the big space programmes in which Italy plays a prominent role, thanks to the activities and competences of the Leonardo Group”.

“There is, however, still more to do - Pasquali emphasised - as regards to other very important programmes in the years to come, like GovSatCom, for the development of secure communications for governmental applications, and the Space Situational Awareness and Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) aimed at protecting the satellite assets and the services they provide from the various risk factors existing in orbit, like space debris”.
