We operate in Germany through the subsidiary Telespazio Germany, an aerospace company for Engineering and IT solutions and services; through the subsidiary Spaceopal (50% Telespazio and 50% DLR-GfR), which manages the operations of the European satellite system Galileo; through GAF (an e-GEOS company) which deals with geo-information.

GAF AG

Since 2003 GAF is part of the Telespazio Group of companies with its affiliation to e-GEOS. It was founded as one of the first satellite remote sensing companies in Europe by Rupert Haydn, AHT International and WAF trust fund. With its 220 employees offer a broad range of services and applications, ranging from multi source geodata procurement (satellite data, DEM, land use and land cover data), high throughput image processing and analysis, information processing and software development towards the provision of turnkey technical assistance projects and customised spatial management and monitoring systems.

Spaceopal

It is a joint venture founded in 2009 by the partners DLR Gesellschaft für Raumfahrtanwendungen (GfR) mbH and Telespazio.

Since November 2010 Spaceopal has been the main contractor for operational services for Galileo, the European Union’s global satellite navigation system. Through its core business activities, Spaceopal is making a key contribution to Europe‘s performance in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).

The European Environment Agency (EEA) recently awarded a contract to a consortium lead by GAF to implement the new High-Resolution Layer (HRL) Vegetated Land Cover Characteristics (VLCC), as part of the pan-European Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS).

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) has confirmed Spaceopal, a joint venture owned in equal parts by Telespazio (Leonardo 67%/Thales 33%) and DLR-GfR (owned by the German Space Agency, DLR), as Galileo Service Operator (GSOp) for the next 5 years.

Two more Galileo satellites, Europe's global navigation and positioning system, has been launched on 5th December 2021 into orbit aboard a Soyuz rocket from the Guyana Space Centre.
