Fighting the digital divide: Telespazio awarded by Euroconsult at World Satellite Business Week

Euroconsult has awarded Telespazio and Pronatel during World Satellite Business Week 2021 for Conecta Selva initiative, which aims to reduce the digital divide in the Amazonian region of Peru. 

The Euroconsult’s industry awards are presented to space companies that have distinguished themselves during the year and celebrate achievements of their business and management.

The award, assigned in "Universal Connectivity”, was presented on 13th December during World Satellite Business Week in Paris (France), one of the satellite industry's most important meetings, to Alessandro Caranci, Head of LoB Satellite Communications at Telespazio.

The Peruvian Transportation and Communications Ministry’s Conecta Selva programme, part of the government’s special plan to bring the internet to rural areas and places of social interest because of the Covid-19 emergency in the country.

Under the project, started last May, Telespazio will provide internet connections at 1316 locations, 1212 of which are schools, in the forest that covers most of the Amazonas, Loreto, Madre de Dios and Ucayali regions.

The company will lead the project, build the ground segment, and manage the constellation.
