Telespazio at “Drones Beyond”, a showcase of offerings for the drone market

17 November 2022

At Drones Beyond 2022, an event organised by the Region of Puglia’s High-Tech Aerospace District, Telespazio held the "Telespazio Air Show", a demonstration flight presenting its product for end-to-end services with drones.

The demonstration showcased the range of high-tech assets and products constituting Telespazio’s current offering for the unmanned aircraft market.

Starting with T-DROMES, a solution for management of RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems) services before, during and after flight integrating the entire Telespazio asset portfolio.

T-DROMES permits use of drones to be scaled up for complex operations in a variety of application scenarios, and includes: a digital platform supporting all the steps in the value chain, from mission planning and assistance obtaining authorisation to mission and fleet management, generation of informative products and access to end users’ data; procedures and operations, for managing the mission’s overall workflow, from users’ requests to data exploitation; flexible software tools and hardware payloads for unifying and interfacing different drones and allowing them to interact with suppliers of UTM\U-SPACE services.

The T-DROMES platform is flanked by the GNSS Augmentation Toolkit, a cloud-based service providing augmented positions with improved accuracy which are, above all, enriched with information on integrity. This is useful for improving security in critical operations, as in the case of BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line Of Sight) and BRLOS (Beyond Radio Line Of Sight) services, when precise, dependable positioning of the drone is essential.

In addition to these tools, TPZ-Air 100 is a hybrid device developed by Telespazio permitting dependable, secure drone command and control through redundant communication channels (satellite and terrestrial). The device features a processor allowing end users to perform customised applications, adding to the value of the mission. TPZ-Air100 uses Iridium’s global satellite network to permit flight in BRLOS mode, adding to the mission’s flexibility and safety.

Lastly, the Fucino Space Centre, heart of the cloud-based services offered by Telespazio to end users through a dashboard or API, offers irreplaceable added value.

Integrated use of these elements in the T-DROMES platform permits remote management of the entire life cycle of BVLOS and BRLOS flights for urban mobility, guaranteeing safe, dependable operation and ultra-high service quality.

Telespazio’s offering for the drones market responds to steady growth in demand in recent years.

The rapid evolution of drones is making them suitable for a multitude of different civil applications, from infrastructure surveillance to environmental monitoring, from parcel delivery to emergency services and recreational uses.

Dependable satellite communications, accurate GNSS positioning and high-precision georeferenced satellite images are only a few of the most important space technologies that will permit operation of BVLOS and BRLOS drones.
