Towards IAC 2024: Milan to host “Looking Beyond”, the immersive and digital exhibition discovering the Earth from space

20 February 2023

Monday 27 February will be presented at STEP FuturAbility District in Milan the immersive exhibition "Looking Beyond", promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) together with the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Telespazio/e-GEOS.

Looking Beyond” will enable the visitor to experience around 60 spectacular images of our planet acquired by the satellites of the Italian constellation owned by ASI and the Italian Ministry of Defence, COSMO-SkyMed.

Divided into four themes – agriculture, city, climate change, and water – the exhibition offers an innovative itinerary through the aid of video walls, projections and 3D effects. The initiative will offer an opportunity to reflect on the contribution of satellite technologies to Earth observation, the promotion of sustainable development, and the protection of natural and cultural heritage.

It is only possible to visit the exhibition and explore Earth observation from Space on Monday 27 February 15, 2023 from 13:00 to 19:00 (free admission).

The exhibition is part of the integrated promotion of Italy and the “Made in Italy” initiatives and has been on display for a few weeks in over 50 countries at various Italian diplomatic offices.

The initiative represents a new step towards IAC 2024, the 75th edition of the International Astronautical Congress, the most important international event in the space sector, which Milan will host from 11 to 18 October 2024.

With the motto "Responsible Space for Sustainability", IAC 2024 will also aim to raise awareness of the international community for a more conscious and responsible use of space technologies, among the best allies of environmental sustainability and for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
