#3: “Sustainability in Space”

The T-TALK saw the return of the journalist  Letizia Davoli as host, with guests the physicist and senior scientist at the Italian Space Agency (ASI), Ettore Perozzi, the astrophysicist and director of the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), Patrizia Caraveo, the engineer specialised in Space Debris, Francesca Letizia, and the researcher of the Space Economy Evolution (SEE) Lab of the SDA Bocconi School of Management, Clelia Iacomino.

The main topics covered by this third event was “Sustainability in Space” and the problem of orbit overcrowding, with the risks that this entails. As space launches become more frequent and with the ever-increasing number of satellites in orbit, the issue of sustainability in Space is becoming increasingly important, which is why we need to work in a coordinated manner both to develop new technologies and to define shared regulations governing space activities.

The T-TALKS are among the initiatives conceived by Telespazio to celebrate its 60 years in business.

The company was established in 1961, just 4 years after the launch of Sputnik and only a few months after Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, made his orbital flight. Today Telespazio is a principal operator in the space services sector and looks to the future with the same pioneering spirit as those original adventurers, ready to face the next challenges in our exciting exploration of space.
