This is the goal of Telespazio within the framework of Cluster Trasporti. The association, which Telespazio has just joined, is a point of reference - recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) - in the sector of vehicles and systems for land and sea mobility.
In particular, Cluster Trasporti pools together major national, industrial and scientific players operating in road, rail and water mobility, in intermodality, and in the fields of transport telematics and integrated transport services. In particular, the cluster brings together 33 companies of different sizes, for a total of over 200,000 workers throughout Italy, 6 billion Euro in investments, and 33 billion Euro of total revenues.
The aim of the network is to create synergies between different supply chains and to support the coordination of industrial research and innovation policies at the national and local level in order to efficiently target available resources, especially within the context of major Italian and European investment programmes, such as the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Horizon Europe, ESA, ASI and Next Generation EU programmes.
Action plan for the transport of the Future
On 14 July, Cluster Trasporti presented the “Action Plan of Cluster Trasporti Italia for the future of the transport industry, vehicles and services”, recently approved by MIUR and aimed at understanding the changes underway in the transport world.
In addition to identifying certain key themes for the future of transportation, the plan focuses particularly on new technologies for satellite applications, 5G/G5, AI, cloud-computing and virtual testing.
"Space solutions and applications based on telecommunications and/or geopositioning already play a primary role in transportation, a sector that is rapidly adopting increasingly sustainable, innovative technologies such as electrically powered and driverless vehicles. Telespazio sees joining the Trasporti Italia 2020 Cluster as an opportunity to share its vision of the mobility of the future with key players in the industry and contribute its experience in space technologies to accomplishment of the digital revolution and the ecological transition that have become indispensable for supporting growth of the Italian economy”.
