The Agritech Project is one of Italy’s leading research and innovation platforms in the agri-food sector. Its mission is to foster the ecological and digital transition of agriculture by promoting collaboration among universities, research institutes, and private companies. Through this network, Agritech drives the development of advanced technologies and sustainable practices to support a more efficient and resilient agricultural system.
The Agritech Living Lab acts as an ecosystem for experimentation and co-creation, where scientific research meets industrial innovation. Within Agritech’s Spoke 3, focused on soil, crop, and water resource monitoring, Telespazio collaborated with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the University of Perugia.
Leveraging drone technology, the expertise of Telespazio’s AI Competence Center, and the company’s proprietary T-DROMES platform, the team carried out advanced data acquisition and processing activities, delivering tailored solutions for the automated analysis of aerial imagery. The University of Perugia provided scientific oversight, methodological support, and data validation.
The resulting analyses generated specific indices for assessing soil conditions, crop health, and water efficiency, providing practical tools to optimize resource management and enhance the sustainability of agricultural production.
Looking ahead, the experience gained through the Agritech Living Lab paves the way for extending this innovative approach to new scenarios and applications related to environmental monitoring and analysis on a broader scale.
The event organized by Telespazio brought together representatives from the Consorzio di Ricerca Unico d’Abruzzo, ANBI Abruzzo, the Consorzio di Bonifica Ovest, the Abruzzo Regional Plant Health Office, and the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale (IZS) — underscoring the growing synergy between research, institutions, and industry in advancing a sustainable and technology-driven agriculture.
