Strategic and Technological Plan approved at the Members’ Assembly

Yesterday, at the Telespazio (a Leonardo Group company) Fucino Space Centre, the Members’ Assembly of the Abruzzo Aerospace District (DAAB) took place at the conclusion of the first six months of activity.

Great satisfaction for the work carried out and the results achieved in the first semester was expressed by Tiziana Magnacca, Regional Councillor for Productive Activities of the Abruzzo Region, and by Massimo Claudio Comparini, Managing Director of Leonardo’s Space Division, who delivered opening remarks to the Assembly before the start of the proceedings.

“With the establishment of the District,” said Councillor Magnacca, “the foundations have been laid for Abruzzo to play a leading role at national and international tables also in the aerospace domain, in light of the significant industrial realities present in our region.”

“I am extremely pleased and interested in the strong participation at the DAAB Members’ Assembly,” Comparini then underlined. “The district landscape in aerospace, and particularly in space, is enriched by a supply chain of knowledge, technologies, and industrial capabilities of particular relevance. The challenge is to mobilise the regional system by consolidating cutting-edge projects aligned with the national cluster roadmaps and their international impact. A challenge for which we have all the necessary elements in the territory to ensure effective and successful direction.”

During the proceedings, the District’s Strategic and Technical Scientific Committee approved DAAB’s first Strategic and Technological Plan, a fundamental tool to guide research, development, and innovation activities in the coming years. The Plan defines industrial and technological priorities, growth trajectories, and actions aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of member companies, research bodies, and universities.

The Assembly also approved the admission of new members, confirming the District’s attractiveness and its role as an aggregator of expertise, excellence, and investment in the aerospace sector.

Finally, the activities carried out and future plans of the working groups (“Analysis and Studies,” “Research Calls and Projects,” “Communication,” “Networking,” and “Training and Talent Attraction”) were presented in order to achieve the objectives set out in the Strategic and Technological Plan.

Giuseppe Mitola, President of DAAB, stated: “The approval of the Strategic and Technological Plan and the expansion of the membership base mark a strategic step in consolidating the District’s positioning and in addressing, with a shared vision, the technological and market challenges of the coming years, also supported by the fruitful attention that Regional institutions are devoting to all our initiatives.”

The Members’ Assembly forms part of DAAB’s development path, committed to promoting innovation, public-private collaboration, and technology transfer, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of the entire aerospace value chain and the Abruzzo territory.

To date, DAAB is composed of 8 large companies, 8 research organisations, and 45 small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups, for a total workforce of over 3,000 employees.

With its members, DAAB represents the entire end-to-end value chain of products and services for the aerospace sector and, despite its young age, positions itself as a key player in the Space Economy at both national and international level.
