Together with its subsidiary Telespazio VEGA Deutschland, the company participates in the event with its own stand, to illustrate the role of Telespazio in the European Galileo and EGNOS localisation and satellite navigation programmes.
The Munich Summit is attended by representatives from the worlds of industry, science and government to discuss, within a rich schedule of meetings and conferences, the developments in the GNSS sector (Global Navigation Satellite System) with particular attention to applications and services.
Telespazio is deeply involved in the European GNSS programmes: EGNOS and Galileo. The company is a key industrial partner of ESSP for the EGNOS Service Provision contract 2014-2021. The tasks cover the maintenance of the system and the support to the EGNOS adoption in the multimodal transportation market.
Telespazio plays a leading role in the development of the Galileo programme, having created at the Fucino Space Centre one of the Control Centres that manage the constellation and the programme mission. Telespazio, through Spaceopal, a company formed as a joint venture with DLR GfR, responsible for operations and integrated logistics of the entire system, participates significantly during all phases of Galileo's operating life.
Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has developed for the European Space Agency the Galileo System Simulation Facility and was also responsible for developing a facility to support the testing and validation of the first four Galileo satellites. Currently, the company is prime contractor for both the Constellation Simulator for the Ground Control Segment and the Assembly, Integration & Validation Platform for the Ground Mission Segment.
