e-GEOS: new contract with the Japan Space Imaging Corporation

e-GEOS has renewed in Japan the multi-million Euro agreement signed in 2017 with the JSI (Japan Space Imaging Corporation) to supply their customer with satellite data generated by the COSMO-SkyMed constellation.

Rome  23 January 2018

Collaboration between these two companies resulted in Japan in a ground station (CUT: Commercial User Terminal) being set up to manage planning, acquisition, and processing operations for satellite images.

COSMO-SkyMed is the only dual use radar Earth observation constellation currently in existence worldwide, and is used for civilian and military purposes. Ten years on from the launch of the first satellite, in 2007, the system has snapped more that 1 million scenes all over the world. It monitors the Earth 24 hours a day under any weather and visibility conditions, and ensures information that is essential for security, monitoring the territory, and sustainable management of resources, as well as dealing with natural events and emergencies, and combating the effects of climate change.
