The Fucino space Centre confirmed among the world's elite by the WTA

15 January 2025

Telespazio's Fucino Space Centre has once again been certified as a Tier 4 Teleport of Quality by the World Teleport Association (WTA), the highest certification level available. This recognition places Fucino among the world’s elite facilities, reaffirming the excellence and the outstanding strategic and technological value of the Italian site

“The renewal of this certification, which follows those obtained by the Fucino Space Centre in 2018 and 2021, enhances our prestige and underscores our commitment to providing excellent satellite solutions and services to our customers. The Fucino Teleport remains a cornerstone of our operations.”

Giuseppe Aurilio, Chief Operating Officer of Telespazio.

Operational since 1963, the "Piero Fanti" Fucino Space Centre spans an area of 370,000 square meters and hosts over 170 antennas, making it the largest teleport in the world for civilian use. Its main activities include satellite in-orbit control, mission management, and the provision of telecommunications, television, and multimedia services. The Centre plays a pivotal role in missions such as COSMO-SkyMed and Galileo, significantly contributing to Europe's space capabilities.

The WTA’s teleport certification is a rigorous process that evaluates facilities, technical infrastructure, and operational procedures, including business continuity, physical and information security, and capacity management. The certification is divided into four levels, with Tier 4 representing the highest standard of excellence.
