Vittorio Colao, Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition, visited the Matera Space Hub

Vittorio Colao, Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition with responsibility for Aerospace, today visited the Matera Space Hub, which combines the historic home of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the e-GEOS Space Centre, a joint venture ASI and Telespazio, part of Leonardo Group. 

The President of Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi, was also present for the visit. Guests were welcomed by Giuseppe Bianco, Head of the ASI Space Research Unit, Paolo Minciacchi, CEO of e-GEOS and Director of Geoinformation Business Line of Telespazio, and Vincenza Luceri, Head of the e-GEOS Space Centre.

The Matera Space Centre, covering an area of around 100,000 square metres and with eight operational antennas, is one of southern Italy’s most important facilities for research, development and technology transfer.

This Centre works in space geodesy, geoinformation and Earth observation services, free space quantum telecommunications, ‘space debris’ tracking and time and frequency metrology.
