Telespazio acquires the space activities of Vitrociset

As from March 1st, the space activities of Vitrociset will be integrated into Telespazio.

The acquisition will allow Telespazio to grow yet further in strategic sectors such as space operations, in particular in the Galileo programme, in the launchers’ ground segment, in radar and optical tracking systems and in weather systems supporting space launches, in particular for the VEGA programme, as well as in engineering and operational services supporting the activities of the European Space Agency.

The acquisition of Vitrociset’s Space BU will also enable Telespazio to expand its geographical presence in countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands, and to strengthen it in French Guiana, at the European spaceport of Kourou.

As from today, therefore, the arrival of around 300 people - mainly engineers and technicians - will allow Telespazio to consolidate its portfolio with new services and qualified competencies.

Telespazio and Vitrociset had already been collaborating for years in several space programs of great significance for both Italy and Europe as a whole.

The Board of Directors of e-GEOS, a joint venture between Telespazio (80%) and the Italian Space Agency (20%), has unanimously appointed Attorney Cristina Sgubin as Chief Executive Officer of the company. Sgubin will also be responsible for Telespazio’s Geo Information Line of Business.

ispace, Leonardo and Telespazio Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Collaborate on Lunar Exploration

  • The MoU builds on existing cooperation between ispace and Telespazio further expanding the areas of potential cooperation also leveraging on Leonardo space capabilities in robotics and AI applied to space exploration, strengthening Europe’s and Japan roles in the emerging cislunar economy.

  • The partnership will advance interoperability of lunar infrastructure and services to support global lunar exploration and explore ispace’s lunar transportation capabilities, with the European Space Agency’s Moonlight programme led by Telespazio, part of Leonardo Group, being the first opportunity to implement it.
