Telespazio UK welcomes Norman Bone as Chair

Telespazio UK announces the appointment of Norman Bone as the Chair of the Telespazio UK Board of Directors.

Norman is also Chair and CEO of Leonardo UK and a member of Leonardo Electronics Inc. Board of Directors, which operates under SSA guidelines.

Prior to this role Norman was Managing Director of Selex ES Ltd, the predecessor to Leonardo’s international Electronics business.

Norman’s career developed from finance, IT & project management roles at United Distillers before moving to the defence sector in 1998 subsequently taking various Director level appointments across BAE Systems. Appointed Director & General Manager Selex SAS Ltd in 2005, Norman was subsequently: Senior Vice President, Radar & Advanced Targeting, UK Chief Business Officer and Group Operations Director, and Managing Director SELEX Galileo Ltd.

Norman is co-chair of the Defence Suppliers Executive Forum alongside DE&S, a member of the UK Defence Industries Council and a member of the Defence Growth Partnership Steering Committee. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Telespazio UK is excited to have Norman’s experience and expertise available to the Telespazio UK board.

Next Wednesday, 28 February, Telespazio will be among the participants in the meeting “Drones and advanced air mobility: flying into the future, between challenges and opportunities”, organised by the Drones and Advanced Air Mobility Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, which Telespazio has been a partner of since 2021.

The ASI AGILE satellite has re-entered the atmosphere, after being managed in orbit for 17 years by Telespazio

After 17 years of activity, AGILE (Astrorivelatore Gamma a Immagini LEggero, Light Imager for Gamma-ray Astrophysics), the scientific satellite of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), has re-entered the atmosphere. The “passivation” of the satellite, as required by international standards, was correctly carried out on 18 January by the Telespazio technicians in the Fucino Space Centre.
