Telespazio, UniBo's partner for a Master's course for talented young people in the space sector

05 August 2020

Telespazio is a partner in the 2nd Level Master's Course: “Space missions science, design and applications” organised by Bologna University, in order to provide new professionals for the space sector of the future.

Innovation starts from the capacity to develop skills and enhance knowledge among talented young individuals.

For this reason, Telespazio has been working for years with Universities and Research Centres (national and international), to create high-level training courses with specialist lectures, internships, and master's degrees that can feed the virtuous circle of innovation.

The latest of these is the partnership between Telespazio and Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna for the 2nd Level Master's in “Space missions science, design and applications (SPICES)”, planned for the 2020/21 Academic Year.

This Master's course, aimed at engineers, astrophysicists, and all graduates in scientific and technological disciplines in general, is open to young people from around the world, and sets out to train future professionals for the space sector. It will provide them with the basis for understanding all phases of a mission: creation, design and development, operations and the scientific return.

With a multidisciplinary approach and the experience of coordinators and lecturers, the Master's SPICES aims to create strong link between the scientific approach, the technological setting, and the application sector, thereby providing a complete and integrated overview of the elements characterising a space mission.

Bologna University's “Space missions: science, design and applications” Master's course will be held in English and organised in two phases. The first, over a total of 360 hours, includes lectures, seminars and workshops run by lecturers and experts, with a high scientific profile and proven experience.

The second phase involves on-the-field training, and students can do a professionalizing internship with space or scientific institutions, or at the partner companies, one of which is Telespazio.

Training and innovation

The “Space missions: science, design and applications” Master's is added to other training courses in which Telespazio has been a partner for some time and that, over the years, have proven to be a real forge for talented young individuals.

Thanks to its partnership with Bologna University, Telespazio is now extending its collaboration in the field of formation even more, with overall coverage of the space world, from operations to law, through geoinformation and navigation, as well as all new innovative sectors in which the Company operates, such as that of drones for example.
