Telespazio returns to Farnborough Airshow, looking to the future

13 July 2022

All is set for the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK starting Monday 18 July. Telespazio will be there, exhibiting in the Leonardo Pavilion (B010).

Following its forced absence during the pandemic, the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) finally returns, this year dedicated to an increasingly pivotal theme in the aerospace sector: the future.

And for Telespazio the future lies primarily in its increasingly innovative solutions and services in all areas of the space sector, from geoinformation to telecommunications, operations and exploration, all with the shared objective of bringing Space closer to the public and institutions.

But the future also means Open Innovation, the STEM disciplines, and an approach that listens to the ideas and intuition of the younger generations. FIA2022 will therefore provide the launchpad for the new edition of #T-TeC, the contest aimed at students of the STEM disciplines who want to square up to the challenges of space innovation and to help chart the journey towards tomorrow. For its fourth edition, #T-TeC - with its ever-more global outlook - returns with a series of innovations that will be announced over the coming days.

The Farnborough Airshow will also be an opportunity to talk about the Space Alliance, the strategic partnership with Thales Alenia Space, which on Wednesday 20 July at 10:00 am (UK time) will present its solutions to the UK market at an event hosted in the UK Space Agency pavilion.

On 19 July, Luigi Pasquali, CEO of Telespazio, will join the round table organised by the Lazio Region on 'Colleferro, Space Capital 2022: projected into the future from a great past'.

During the course of FIA2022 Telespazio will also be represented by its engineers and experts, who will illustrate the company's innovative solutions in the contexts of the Digital Ground Segment, Earth Observation and drones.

In particular, on Tuesday 19 July at 2 pm (UK time), Luca Petronzio - Head of Product Policy and Development - will be in the Space Zone of Hall 4 to present our multi-mission and multi-sector suite dedicated to the Digital Ground Segment.

Also on Tuesday 19, Alexandra Barker, Climate Marketing and Sales Manager at Telespazio UK, will be among the speakers on the panel 'Meeting Net Zero with the Power of Space' (Space Theatre, Space Zone: Hall 4, 12:00 UK Time), dedicated to explaining how data from space can help reduce emissions and solve the climate crisis.

The following day at 11 am (UK time), again in the Space Zone of Hall 4, Domenico Grandoni, Head of Big Data, Analytics and AI Solutions, will be talking about how digital technologies, such as High Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI), have a key role in creating a Digital Twin of our planet for the benefit of a sustainable environment.

And finally on Thursday 21, Corrado Orsini, System Engineer - GI RPAS Unit, will be in the Space Zone, Hall 4 to illustrate Telespazio’s solutions in the innovative sector of drones and associated applications.

He will focus in particular on T-DROMES, a solution for managing fleets and missions of remotely piloted aircraft and for using drones with a scalable approach in complex operations and different application settings.

Towards the Digital Twin of Italian Soil

Leonardo, through e-GEOS, a company owned by the Italian Space Agency (20%) and Telespazio (80%), will support the Department for Sustainable Development (DiSS) of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) in the development of a Digital Twin of the Italian territory. The initiative falls under PNRR investment M2C4 I.1.1, which focuses on the development of an advanced monitoring and forecasting system. This high-resolution digital model of the terrain, built using airborne laser surveys (LiDAR) and aerogravimetric data, will serve as a strategic asset for understanding the morphology of the land and will lay the foundation for future Digital Twins capable of simulating and further studying its behaviour.
