International Organisations

Telespazio, in the performance of its activities, co-operates with various international organisations, for the purpose of contributing to the circulation and sharing of state-of-the-art information about new products, solutions and technologies.

In particular, Telespazio is involved in the following organisations:

  • ITU (International Telecomunication Union)

ITU is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies. Founded in 1865 to facilitate international connectivity in communications networks, it allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensure networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect, and strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide.

  • Satellite for 5G

ESA and the European space industry have joined forces to develop and demonstrate the added value that satellite brings in the context of 5G. ESA and 16 satellite industry leaders signed a joint statement on their collaboration over ‘Satellite for 5G’ at the Paris Air and Space show on 21st June 2017.

  • 5GPPP (5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership)

5GPPP is a joint initiative between the European Commission and European ICT industry (ICT manufacturers, telecommunications operators, service providers, SMEs and researcher Institutions). The 5G-PPP is now in its third phase where many new projects were launched in Brussels in June 2018. The 5G PPP will deliver solutions, architectures, technologies and standards for the ubiquitous next generation communication infrastructures of the coming decade. 

  • 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project)

3GPP is a world project established in the late 90s, which since that time has allowed the main players of the telecommunications industry to work together on the definition of the technological solutions that strongly affected the habits and lifestyles of everybody.

  • RTCM (Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services)

RTCM is an international non-profit scientific, professional and educational organization. RTCM members are organizations (not individuals) that are both non-government and government. Although started in 1947 as a U.S. government advisory committee, RTCM is now an independent organization supported by its members from all over the world.

  • WG on Drones of EUROCAE (European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment)

EUROCAE is the European leader in the development of worldwide recognised industry standards for aviation. It is a non-profit organisation formed at Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1963, as a European forum focusing on electronic equipment for air transport. It deals exclusively with aviation standardisation, for both airborne and ground systems and equipments
