Business Sat was born from the synergy of three companies,
leaders in their respective reference market:
Telecom Italia, Telespazio and Hughes Network Systems.
A highly qualified know-how that allows to offer to the
business customers high performance and maximum
reliability at a fair price.

Business Sat is the service of access to broadband internet via satellite and commercialised by Telecom Italia, allowing navigation without cover restrictions at a rate of 2048 Kbps in download and of 256 Kbps in upload.
Business Sat is bidirectional:
it
utilizes satellite as a connection (log-on)
mean, without telephone line help.
Business Sat is full Internet:
it is in always-on mode, with adequate band
for professional usages (peak rate: 2048/256
kbps), mail services, dominions and IP addresses.
Business Sat comprises of two main
elements:
- the satellite terminal:
formed by a transmitting/receiving antenna
(of 89cm diameter) and by a modem-router
to be connected to one or more computers
on LAN network (with Ethernet interface)
- the Services Centre: having the function
of an ISP and connecting the Internet network
to the satellite Hub and hence to the final
users.

To whom Business Sat is proposed
|
Business Sat is proposed to all those private
companies and public institutions that have
not been already serviced by the terrestrial
broadband. Not only! Business Satis also
useful to who has the need to perform a
back-up at log-on to broadband. There are
no limits to the usage of Business SAT.

of the Ollolai village does:

The local administration of Ollolai,
a small village in Sardinia (with
1800 inhabitants) Barbagia, in the
province of Nuoro, has implemented
a Wi-Fi network in order to offer
to all its citizens a broadband
service. The login to the Internet
occurs through a satellite connection
to Business SAT, managed by the
local administration, representing
the "server" of the Wi-Fi net. Two
antennas cover an area of 400 meters
about the town hall and town school
complex. The connection to the network
system is for free for all of the
town’s population, beside a small
initial payment for registration
and a contribution towards the cost
of the antenna.

Business Sat foresees an activation cost that comprises the price of also the satellite terminal, with a receiver/transmitter parabola (89 cm of diameter) and a modem-router with LAN interface, plus the price of a standard installation. The monthly fee includes service and maintenance: attendance, also on-site, is guaranteed within the 12 hours.
With Business Satyou can also have some of the OPTIONAL SERVICES ISP:
• package from 10 mailboxes (with a level 2 dominion)
• 1 level 2 dominion (.it type)
• 1 dominion of level 2 (com or .org type)
• unlimited management of primary DNS.

IP Corporate services
are designed to provide high performance
and availability on dedicated bandwidth
assignment.
Typical applications are :

IP Corporate Services can be with speed
from 64Kb/s to 1.2Mb/s in Up stream (remote
to Hub) and with speed up to 8Mb/s in down

Sat broadband?
Business Sat is the Internet solution at
high rate available to any customer for
the ITALIAN market. Business Sat uses the
satellite technology to assure a super-fast
Internet connection and always available.
Business Sat allows a quick and fast connection
and allows navigation and the transferring
of data files at a rate comparable with
the terrestrial ADSL.
.: How fast is the Business Sat
system?
For domestic and professional
applications, within the Business Sat service,
a peak rate of 2048 Kbps for download and
one of 256 Kbps for the upload is guaranteed.
.: How faster is the Business Sat
system respect to the other high speed services?
Business Satis the Internet solution at
high rate that offers performance comparable
to other broadband services. As a satellite
service, downloading rates for Web pages,
e-mails or large data files are remarkably
high. At the same time, for the "uploading"
from satellite the rates are more suitable
for Internet uses of general type (Internet
navigation, chat, e-mail, purchasing on-line,
etc).

for the user computer associated with the
Business Sat Terminal - HN7000?
The Business Satmodem
(model HUGHES HN7000) allows your computer
connection to Internet if you use a Windows®
or a Macintosh® operating system. To ensure
the maximum performance to the Internet
connection, the following minimum requirements
are suggested: o Operating System: PC: Windows
98 IF, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows
XP/Mac: 9.0-10.2 (excluded 10,0) o Microprocessore:

compatible with my Mac?
Yes, it is.
.: Is Mac OS 10,0 supported?
No, it is not supported. We recommend that
you upgrade your Mac to version 10,1 or
higher.
.: May I use Business Sat on a small
network?
Yes, you may connect more computers
to a Business Sat Terminal. The needed infrastructure
for this networking can be ordered but it
is not included in the proposed Business
Sat system. For the network setting-up and
configuring contact your supplier (TELESPAZIO
is not responsible for the configuration
of the domestic nAetwork or its management).
Obviously all the computers of this type
of network share a single connection and
point of access.
.: What would happen if my computer
did not have Network Interface Card (NIC)?
What I can do?
Many computers
may be updated with a Network Interface
Card 10/100 (NIC). If it is more convenient
for you, you can install yourself one or
more Ethernet NIC. Check with your computer
supplier the correct model of Ethernet NIC.
Moreover, if you have a USB port available
on your computer, you may buy an Ethernet-USB
adapter. This can easily be installed on
your computer. For a laptop computer you
can buy a standard PCMCIA card allowing
the Ethernet connection, or alternatively
a Ethernet-USB adapter. We recommend the
upgrade of your computer to satisfy all
the above specified requirements in order
to obtain the best performance in Internet
environment.
.: Can I use a PCMCIA card adapter for my
laptop?
Yes you can. All you need
to connect your own computer to the Business
Sat terminal is a 10/100 Ethernet NIC Card
or a PCMCIA adapter with an Ethernet connector.
.: Do I still need a telephone modem and
a telephone line?
No, any telephone line
or modem is required to use the Business
Sat service.
.: Why the requirement that the Business
Sat system must be installed professionally?
Control and Regulations
authorities demand that the installation
of any two-way satellite communication system
must be installed by professional staff.
.: How long is the system transmission
time delay?
The system delay is the needed time
for a signal to travel through the network.
For a satellite service this is about ˝
second and is part of the overall delay
time between your computer and the host
site of the Web Server. Applications that
are not compatible with propagation times
or delays, such as internet games with more
participants or transactions that must be
done in real time, are not indicated for
a final customer that has registered with
Business Sat services only for Internet
access. HAowever, with suitable HW and SW
integrations it is possible to extend the
Business Sat service also for applications
in Real-Time (i.e. VoIP, Videoconferencing,
Interactive Distance Learning, etc.)
.: Are applications VPN suitable
for Business Sat system?
Implementing a VPN client on a satellite
network is not an ideal solution. However
It is possible. Contact TELESPAZIO or TELECOM
ITALIA to find the most suitable solution
for your needs.
.: May I install this communication
system on a boat?
No. You cannot. The Business
Sat system has been developed for fixed
installations.
.: Can I use dynamic allocation of
addresses (DHCP) for the local LAN located
behind the HN7000 terminal?
The HN7000 is
capable of providing the DHCP server functions
but one must take into account the profile
of the underwritten service.
.: Up to what number of PC’S is it
possible to connect to the HN7000 Terminal?
It all depends on
the type or profile of service that has
been underwritten with Business SAT. In
particular:
• NETTUNO profile: up to 10 PC;
• URANO profile: more than 10
PC;
• SATURNO profile: more
than 10 PC;
• GIOVE profile: more than 10
PC.
