On the occasion of the II Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops, currently under way in Rome, on Saturday 10 October Pope Benedict XVI will recite the rosary via live satellite link with eight African countries.
The event has been made possible thanks to the contribution of Telespazio, which has provided a space segment on a network which will allow the use of seven satellites and four operational antennas on the ground at the Fucino Space Centre.
The countries to receive the link with the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall are Egypt, Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Mozambique.
Telespazio will coordinate all technical aspects of the transmission.
