Telespazio will provide a satellite back-up service for the G8 meeting, which will take place at the Guardia di Finanza school in Coppito (L’Aquila), from 8 -10 July 2009, to ensure the availability of internet connectivity and telephony services provided by Telecom Italia.

The satellite link will be set up between Telecom Italia’s site, where an adequate transportable antenna will be deployed, and the Guardia di Finanza school using a vehicle-mounted mobile satellite. These services may be used both in the case of the unavailability of the primary services on Telecom Italia’s fibre-optic network and as additional capacity to the primary services already provided.

In addition to providing the necessary technical equipment, Telespazio, which contributed to the design of the architecture relating to the TLC services for the G8 event, will also supply a 24-hour operational support service with specialist personnel for the entire duration of the event and the days leading up to it.
