A series of
Open
days at the Matera Space Centre
was today launched by extraordinary commissioner
of the Italian Space Agency
Enrico
Saggese and Telespazio CEO
Giuseppe
Veredice.
The event, organised by the Italian Space
Agency and Telespazio, will enable the
public to visit the space centre from
9 to 22 May.
During that period, as part of the programme
of events to celebrate Finmeccanica’s
60th anniversary, a photography exhibition
will be on display, entitled “
A
legacy for the future”. The exhibition
chronicles the most significant milestones
in the development of Finmeccanica and
its companies, past and present. The images
have been collected and chosen by the
group companies and their employees, with
the assistance of the Ansaldo Foundation
archives.
The photographic journey presented at
Matera concludes with
Love Planet
Earth: a gallery of high-resolution
satellite images of the earth produced
by Telespazio to highlight some of the
phenomena that are threatening the planet’s
natural equilibrium
The open days form an integral part of
the Matera Space Centre’s training activities.
In this context, the University and Politecnico
of Bari, in co-operation with the University
of Basilicata, the Italian Space Agency
and Telespazio are promoting a
Master’s
course in Remote Sensing for
outstanding young Italian students interested
in the Earth observation sector. Telespazio
and the Italian Space Agency will offer
a number of bursaries to participants.
