Galileo: Spaceopal awarded the management of the European satellite navigation programme's operations

Spaceopal, joint venture between Telespazio and DLR-GfR won the GSOp (Galileo System Operator) tender, issued by the GSA (European GNSS Agency) for managing the operations of the European Galileo satellite positioning and navigation programme. The contract will run for ten years, with a value of up to EUR 1.5 billion.

The Turkish Earth observation satellite GÖKTÜRK-1 was successfully launched at 10:51 (local time), at 14:51 CET from the European spaceport in Kourou (French Guiana). The programme was built by Telespazio as prime contractor, and Thales Alenia Space.

Four new satellites belonging to Galileo, the European satellite positioning and navigation programme, were successfully launched today from the European spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. The launch took place at 10:06 local time, 14:06 CET, with an Ariane 5 ES launcher.
